Education is at risk in Nebraska
We want to know what the department has done for you and why you are standing up for EDAD!
-
After serving the public for more than a century, the Department of Educational Administration (EDAD) at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, faces elimination as proposed by a Budget Reduction Proposal. The state of education rests in the ability of institutions to provide an adequate and quality education to enhance life opportunities. A university without an education leadership department to prepare, develop, and enhance educational professionals and leaders is detrimental to our society. Established in 1913, EDAD has served the state of Nebraska in preparing world-renowned educators, school and district leaders, policymakers, student affairs professionals, campus administrators, community leaders, and innovative thinkers and scholars.
Despite the contributions of the department, the UNL administration has decided to eliminate EDAD due to budget cuts, but it is not too late to push back on this decision. Be an Advocate for Education! Your story matters, and it helps us show the strength of UNL EDAD during this critical moment. Advocates for EDAD are compiling statements and testimonies on the value and contribution of the department to petition for reconsideration [See the budget reduction process]. EDAD’s work is central to the mission of our flagship, land-grant university in teaching, research, and service.
If eliminated, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be the ONLY flagship institution in the BIG 10 without a department focused on educational leadership, administration, or higher education.
EDAD houses the ONLY doctoral program for higher education in the state of Nebraska.
